Northgate - Pickaroon open yet?

Wondering if anyone has tried the Pickaroon takeout (westside of the river) yet this season.

If so how was the road? Muddy? Snow?

I havn't ever tried the east side. Road looks better but much longer. Any info on coming into Pickaroon from the east?

call four seasons angers in laramie. they always know if it's open. i would say it's not yet.

as for the road in, it's long but the roads are good. i'd say it takes maybe 30-45 minutes to get back in there. if you go in, i'd take a chainsaw. lots of dead timber in there.
By the waterside I will lay my head.
Listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul.

I just ran it on Wednesday. we tried to get to Pickaroon via bennet rd. we thing we made it about 20 miles back or so, way past the point of access from the north or saratoga side. tons of down trees but clear. we hit about 3' of snow with to much mud to gain access. took out at bennet. We rowed the full 35.5 miles in 7.5 hrs in our small 10'-12' round boats loaded through crap weather and had plenty of flow @ 1150cfs. the rapids are pretty easy. I think the road should be open in about 2 weeks maybe less if you have a good truck.
Best time of the year to run it, tons of wild life, great flow and everything is green! Only had one tick in the drysuit, not bad!!

Just returned... took out at Prospect (west side). Road was dry and in good condition. Was able to pull a 14' trailer down and back. Easy.

We saw people car camping at Pickaroon so someone made it in.

Water was 860csf. Great level for little boats.... lots of fun.

Enjoy it while the water lasts.... maybe it will pop up again when it warms up?
