The Giant Slalom in Jake's sounds ridiculous based on the early June dates because typically during that week, flows are between 3,000 and 6,000cfs.
If I get the honor of racing, I sure hope I don't finish top three or whatever because there's no way I'm hitting gates in the middle of a rapid I almost always portage at those flows.
It's gonna be wild.
Yeah, if it's over 3k I'm curious to see if they stick to their guns and hold the finals in Jakes. I've seen big-name boaters walking that drop as the level approaches 3k. No shame in walking that drop at any level, that's for sure.
Perhaps they can have a portage race: race starts in your boat above Jakes and the fastest person to jog up to the highway and sprint past the top part of Golf Course and seal launch back in wins.
If 30 people race Jake's at 4k I assure you there will be some intense carnage. I'm curious where they're even going to find 30 people keen to race that drop at high water. Maybe they'll have some next-level safety that will inspire some charging.
Fortunately for the race, the current snowpack might lead to sane levels in early June.
