Wow, just let it go. If you had fun and thought it was hard then have a good time and move on. I will say that ratings are ratings no matter who is running it. So one mans class III is still class III for the newby.

Holy Shit Ben! If you want to run a class 5 that bad, go run one. There's no amount of arguing that's gonna turn any move in Waterton into a "class 5" boof.

Ah man, as expected, "Mountain Buzz" is happening. I already conceded that Waterton was a III+ with some IV consequences (which I truly believe it to be and didn't intend to express otherwise), swallowed my shame for the "class V boof" comment, and will shut up now and avoid future discussions on Mtn Buzz that may involve differing viewpoints since they really aren't that fun. I've been around here long enough to know better. I still think a class V boater (which I am not and have no intention of being) can find challenging moves in a flooding Waterton that I (a class IV- boater) had no interest or business making (and didn't make) but that point was lost in the mention of the words "Class V" combined with "Waterton". The original post was to express enthusiasm about how much fun I had running it that day, contradict the idea that it was unrunnable posted earlier in the thread, provide some beta, and express some caution for those who have maybe run a few class III's that it probably wouldn't be for them. Between getting called BS for even running it on one hand, and invoking anger for calling it a class IV on the other, this has been interesting. We're good, I appreciate and enjoy the different viewpoints (but not personal attacks) and I really will shut up. I feel like we've beaten the dead horse sufficiently.

I appreciate all of the info, I didn't know there was such passion about classes of whitewater. That is good to know, I have just been going off of what the books or the flow sights have rated them, not what folks have said.

If anyone does decide to run the lowly deckers to the confluence (I will probably portage around the chute if big) drop me a pm and I would like to join the group.
