New to Kayaking in Fort Collins, looking for similar

Hey, I just got a white water kayak today and know nothing as of yet. I will look into taking a class and am also hoping to find someone else who is learning and wants a buddy, prefer female person. I live in N Fort Collins. Let me know if anyone is looking for someone to learn with. None of my friends are into kayaking, and I don't know anyone who is. Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated!

RA provides great kayak classes; check 'em out at this link:

As for finding paddling partners, I think you're already on the right track, just post up on the 'buzz here. Also try posting in the "Betty Buzz" forum, it might increase your chances of finding female paddlers. Plenty of beginners always posting up looking for paddling partners and starting threads somewhere along the lines of, 'beginner trip', 'Class II-III', etc..

It's also a very good idea to paddle with a person/people that have a bit of experience and know what they are doing so that in the event of a swim, they will be able to help recover your boat, gear, and if needed, you. If you go with ALL beginners, and there's a swim, it may turn into all of you swimming, and a huge yard sale. :P

Good Luck, welcome to one of the most, if not THE MOST, addicting sport. Be Safe.

If you're going to stick it out there, don't be afraid to get it cut off.

Will check out the classes and post on Betty Buzz. Thanks for all the good suggestions. I assumed that more experienced people wouldn't really want to kayak with a beginner, but if there is anyone out there who doesn't mind, I'd love to join you!

My daughter just moved to Fort Collins and is looking for a kayak partner. She has all of her own gear and might be able to teach you how to roll. Can I forward your e-mail to her?
