Welcome to the area. The put-it at Silt is located south of I-70.
From the highway, assuming you're coming from Parachute, take Silt exit to the stop sign.
Turn right, then immediately left onto the frontage road. You'll be driving east on the frontage road.
Drive along the frontage road about 1/2 mile to the first intersection. There will be the Holiday Inn on your right.
Turn right here at the intersection and this will take you over the river. As you cross the bridge, look just upstream and you'll see the boat ramp.
After you cross the bridge, drive about 100yds and turn hard left into the dirt parking area which will take you to the ramp.
Not sure exactly where the put-in is in Rifle. I believe it is near the rest area at the main Rifle exit. (Anyone else know?)
Up in New Castle, there is also another put-in on the south side of the river at the New Castle exit. You can see the boat ramp from the highway. Take the frontage road along the south side of the river to the park.
Normally you can get flows from here on Mtn Buzz, but the link isn't working. Another option is to go to the USGS water site for CO.
The river for the most part in this section ranges from class I- II+.
Hope this helps.
PS. If you're looking for more whitewater, come to Glenwood Springs. There are tons more whitewater (and float fishing friendly waters) in the surrounding area. That's a whole nuther post.
