New Stick Gauge on Clear Creek (of the Arkansas)
I ran clear creek last night and installed a meter stick under the bridge so that we can have a put-in visual and no longer need to rely on the eddyflower gauge which is several hours downstream. We figured out that the level peaks at the put in around 8:30 pm, so that's when the level will be highest.
In theory, if you put on at 8:30pm, and then look at the eddyflower gauge the next day, what ever the peak flow is reading from the night before is the level you ran it at.
Around 7:00pm last night the level was surging between 9 and 10 inches.
The meter stick is on river left in an eddy under the bridge. Post your visuals and be safe out there.
I know tonight that there is a crew going in to recover a pinned boat right at the end of the first gorge, so be careful and safe and slow because they might have lines going across the river.
