I guess this is the first phase but I dont see why a wave needs a manhole cover to work.

I will be very interested to see what kind of wave this feature produces. We are in the planning stages of adding a playwave in the Arkansas River upstream from town in a park setting. We are looking for more of a wave than a hole. If rocks or a manhole don't work, I suppose we could always do this...

Close to the park or around the nature center?

I have my eye on a spot river right and upstream from the upstream boat ramp at the nature center. It would be a perfect place for a wave, we just need to do all those little things first like getting the permission to do it, plan it, and find someone to pay for it, other than that we are good...LOL

I live right across from the river in Avon and stop to check out progress every day on my way home from work.

I asked about the manhole and the reason is that they have to drill down 9 feet into the bedrock to secure the feature that is going to form the hole. Dept of Wildlife isn't allowing any grout in this feature so it's all rebar and what not. The manhole is so they can get a jackhammer in the river to drill the holes for the rebar to secure the feature.

I'm looking forward to the new park because it will be nice to have some good waves that are consistent.

Keep your fingers crossed that they work out. Holes are easy to make, waves not so much. Ya gotta love fluid dynamics.
