I don't know much from personal experience but I read this thread a while back and it seemed to have some good info http://www.mountainbuzz.com/forums/f15/saturn-review-25729.html

If the Hyside is in good shape and has been well taken care of that would get my first vote

My thoughts are that if your choice is between a 15 year old raft, that has a few good years left, and a new raft, that while it does not have the "proven" record of the old one, should last at least as long as the "few good years" of the old one, I would take the new one.

I went through the same mental game over the winter when I was deciding on what raft to get. I ended up getting the Saturn. The thread that was listed earlier details why.

... and since I said the "S" word let the flames begin....

Personally, I would take a used hypalon boat over a new PVC one anyday.

I'd go Hyside if I were you... If it's well taken care of it'll last you a while - even if it's 15 years old. I've got an old '70's hypalon boat that still floats... although it's got some seepage. Nothing a teeshirt and some hypalon paint can't fix!
