Dave, it was a good morning, skiing some pretty nice pow!
I am not sure where the Source take out is, but there is the road bridge below the town of Eldora that you would have to make it under and below that there is a big tree in the creek on private property. There may also be fences through the town of Eldora or on the private property? Maybe you have scouted it?
The private property is Arapahoe Ranch, not really boater friendly. I have met the owners and it is complicated. I hope some day to get their permission to float through, just to say I did it and I think she will let me.
Below the ranch, there is a Ned town piece of property just east of the high school (future put-in?, not for the casual park paddler) and goes from flat water to a boof into a pretty solid IV creek section through private property. This is a very nice, not very disturbed, natural section. Then it mellows out to a fast creek with not many features. This mellower section is just above and through town.
I helped our ski partner, today poach the IV section once in an open boat.
. I also had a guy threaten me once, scouting this section from the road.
The section just above and through town is already disturbed from the mining days. There is drop, but if you added constriction, I am sure you could make it work through town to the diversion dam above the res. From the diversion dam to the res (by the skate park and Teen Center), there is very good short drop to work with, if you removed the dam. I don't really think the dam has a function?
I looked at the historical flows and I thought there was a solid month to six weeks of decent flows.
I would love to see the willows cut back and a sweet play wave in front of Wild Mountain Brewery! Maybe, someday!
