Neat article on new BV kayak park/river development

The Denver Post business front page had a great article on the new Beuna Vista kayak park/river development. The development is being handled by two kayaking siblings who bought the river-front land to keep it from being developed in an unpleasent way.

The pictures of the development look great. 6 surfing waves over 3/4 of a mile. This will be about 200 yards down river from the current BV wave. I heard it will have a river front pizzeria?

The article is at
http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,...486305,00.html

The web site for the River Park development is at
http://www.southmainriverpark.com/Default.asp

You've got to appreciate and be thankful for the decisiveness of these guys to buy this land. I hope they make money on it. It sounds like a risky development--it will increase the number of units in BV by 25%, yet the real estate market is incredibly slow right now. Even without the new units, BV has a 15 year supply of houses.

Does anyone have any more info on it?

Here's an artist view of the final development. Good luck.......

Pro paddler Jed Selby is one of the men in charge of the kayaking themed small-town development. He's been working on it for around 2 years I think.

"Won't you take me down to selby town!" (thanks Arlo)

Congratulations to the Selby's for taking the bull by the horns & Developing a property with good density and mixed use.
It would have been sad to see that plot go to a developer that would have plopped down (80) 3000 sf energy hogs with 1/2 acre a piece (highlands ranch sprawl), limiting new residents to non-local investors.
If Prospect is the model for this community, it will be a great place to live and hopefully work... and guaranteed flows right out your front door should entice some boaters.

Steve.
