Narrows in Zion

I have a crew wanting to go down and hit the zion narrow. the guide book says that it is a very committing run and only a class III but every web sit that i look at say that it is class V- to class V+ i know that i am not ready to run a very committing class V gorge can you guys tell me what you have heard or seen thank you

p.s durango town run 32nd down sunday 4/20 at 4:30 open to anybody

Your confusion is that neither EF or AW have the run through Zion Narrows listed. I have hiked it in September. From Chamberlain's Ranch to the Temple of Sinawava is III. Looks like the higher rated section (Zions Park) puts in at the takeout for the Narrows. There is the one 15'er the you can portage on the left.

Hope that helps. I'm hoping to get on it pretty soon myself.

This is not a class 5 gorge...the lower portion is 3, you can hike and get some 4-5 if you want.
