My CR250's bolts are pulling out!

I was playing around in Golden today and I noticed my rolls getting a little sloppy and a lot of water in my boat. Lo-and-behold, the bolts on one of my thigh braces have almost completely ripped out of the shell!

This is my first boat and I've only been at it since last July. But, I bought the boat barely used and I know how these warranties work. So, I'm not too hopeful. The thing is, it's obviously a defect and not something due to abuse, negligence or a big hit. I'm pretty sure I can find or machine a piece of metal to reinforce it with. But, for a relatively new boat this sucks!

Do any of you guys have any experience with Liquid Logic warranties?

If you can fix it by adding some washers or machining a piece of metal to go over it I would try that first. It's going to be your fastest solution with the season starting and all. If you can't come to a satisfactory solution on your own then contact them directly with the serial number. They are very good about standing behind their products although you are correct that the warranty is technically only applicable to the original owner. Good luck!

Take a picture. Call Obie at LL. He will probably have you send a picture to him. If it is as you say a manufacturing issue He will take care of you and either send you a boat or a shell. He will want you to cut the piece out of your boat and the serial number out eventually and send it to him. The last thing he wants is you not in your boat.

If that does not work I would plastic weld it and them put your machined piece over that.

Just got my new boat!!
The guys at Alpine Sports in boulder were awesome...They gave me a loaner for the whole time I waited for my warranty.

It turns out that LL has switched manufacturing process to a pressurized rather than gravity roto-molding process. The area of the boat that suffered failure had noticeably thinner plastic. Their new process should have eliminated the possibility of that ever happening in the future.

The new Liquid Logic outfitting is KILLER!

What year was your CR and do they have the same issue in the 125's?

Bought in august of 06. The shop I took mine to had never seen it before. But the word was that the old manufacturing line had seen this problem on a very small amount of boats. Of course, the nature of the defect is local and probably random. The guys at the shop told me they were curious about it and tried to cause the same failure on the other side. They couldn't do it. So, you probably have to have 2 variables aligned...the plastic not entirely filling the mold exactly in a structurally critical area. I wouldn't worry too much about it, because without perfect bad positioning, any minor plastic abnormalities will be averaged out by the surrounding bomber plastic.
