So I'm moving to from Northern Minnesota to Billings MT and am looking for beta on local rivers. I'm a solid Class V creeker and have been boating for 5 years now... although that comfort in grades mostly pertains to shallow fast moving and technical creeking as we have on the North Shore of Lake Superior. I'm probably more of a Class IV+/V- boater in higher volume boating... we just don't have that big volume where I am from. In short... I'll take a big burly and rocky slide, or big vertical drop over a class V hole punch at this point
That said I'm aware of the big names for stout creeking in the area... Big T, The Box, etc... But I'm also interested in learning about some lesser known runs within and 1 hrs to 3 hrs range of Billings. Also I'll be busy training to be a physician... so I'm also very interested in any nearby play spots/moderate river runs for an after work wind down or solo run. I realize Billings area is probably limited... but I'd love to hear differently.
I realize that some may feel I'm encroaching on the home turf asking for beta and all (as I've seen in some previous posts)... If so, please ignore this post, keep your hidden gems to yourself, and boat hard.
As I make MT my home, I'm looking forward to getting to know the local MT boating community!!!!
