That is an interesting idea indeed. Especially considering that the weekend after I posted this originally, some local fellas headed up to Falls Creek, had a run-in with the landowners and then proceeded to argue and then "utilize" Montana creek access laws and wade up the creek to the falls. You can imagine how the landowners might feel when snubbed like this, and, at this point, that action seems to have driven the final nail into the coffin on Falls Creek...
We are still trying to get some face time, but obviously this latest Huckfest maneuver has had a hugely negative impact on our efforts. The sad thing is that those involved seemed to clearly know that there were access issues on the creek before heading up there and still chose to behave in an antagonisitc fashion...
Perhaps your idea may be the only possible solution up that way, though I doubt landowners will want to hassle with checking passes and I.D.'s or calling in authorities to do the same. But I will surely give it a try if they will listen to us at all.
Thanks for your input.
Hey Mike, Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help keep West Rosebud from becoming an issue. We have had fairly good luck with establishing protocols with landowners and the USFS depending on the situation, and then spreading the word. you can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org
thanks, and please let me know what you find out when you speak with the landowners.
