Mexico Paddling Trip for a good cause

I just read this on another forum but, the Kipawa is one of the best WWRivers in Canada. Currently there is a plan to build a dam on the river that would effectively shut this run down. They fought it in court, and got a weird ruling that they can appeal and probably win. But they need money... here's a way they're trying to fund it:

The appeal process is going to go ahead for the Kipawa, we just need to raise the funds. We've retained a very experienced lawyer from Toronto, but to help cover SOME of his time and costs, we need to raise $20,000; OR $5,000 for the next four months.

Jim Coffey, of Esprit rafting, has topped himself and made a very generous offer. He has pledged that anyone attending their trip to Mexico from Feb 23 to Mar 1, 100% of their payment will go towards the Les Amis Legal Fund.

You don't have to kayak or Canoe. You can enjoy the warm weather and whitewater on a raft, or even stay on land with their Adventure tour.

IF you go on the trip, you will receive an H20-2 Bent whitewater paddle. A $300 dollar value... and other gear supplier in the works.

Oh, and there's more... Since we don't need to cover the lawyers expenses upfront, you can pay by cc, with a $500 deposit, $250 March 1, $250 April 1, $250 May 1.

Esprit was voted one of the Best Outfitters on the Planet by National Geographic, and this type of action is a testament to that. (Adventure Travel Ratings - National Geographic Adventure Magazine)

You can contact them at, or visit their website

To make sure that your contribution goes to help saving the Kipawa River and preserving the Navigation Rights of our waterways, mention that you are booking on behalf of the Kipawa, Les Amis Legal Fund trip, and quote the PROMO CODE: lalf08

Level Six has joined the cause in a big way. If you book to go on the trip, you will receive a Mack Dry Top - a $350 value.

For detail on the Dry Top, check out

So $650 worth of gear up for grabs while vacationing for a good cause.
