The flow at Corn Creek today is 5.8'. I am "guessing" that it will be in the 4' to 5' range when we launch next week.
Now my question is relative to two-man inflatable kayaks. We were planning on having 3 rafts (1 at 14', 2 at 16') to carry the gear plus 2 two-man IKs.
Those in the IKs have a fair amount of experience (including flipping and climbing back in while still in a rapid), but they do not have dry suits (they do have wetsuits). The water will be cold and fast.
So, I am wondering how the river is for IKs in the 4' to 5' range. Is it too big and pushy? Or would it be fun? In my opinion, swiming more than 2 or maybe 3 times in a day, or even one long nasty swim is not fun. If everyone is cold and tired they won't enjoy it.
I am debating whether to use my 14' raft as a paddle boat instead of an oar rig and just leave the IKs home.
I would appreciate any thoughts about IKs in that water flow range.
