m wave question

i went there with some friend and it was really hole like, it kept my freind in for a while and trashed him, i saw some other pictures and it looked alot smoother, is this just the level? i dont mean to complain about this beatiful wave but i hadnt surfed anything that big and want to go back without getting trashed so badly
