There was a time many, many years ago when this forum was used as a communication vehicle for transferring valuable info, related to kayaking, between paddlers around the state of colorado. It was a great way to get and give info about river conditions, river flows, successful lines, unsuccesful lines, new runs, hazards, lost gear, found gear, gear for sale, future trips looking for bodies, etc, etc. But then alas the children who grew up with the internet in their lives at an early age become old enough to get into the sport, now to these kids a forum like this serves an altogether different purpose, for them it's their main social channel.
Perhaps it would be good to have a division of this site. One site which could be used to actually exchange info of the types mentioned above, and one for the adolescents to childishly play with as they experiment with different communication styles in their baby steps towards adulthood.
My guess is that somewhere around the age of 35 they may be mature enough to transfer to the more useful site.

I'm starting to see a trend in kayaking towards the attitudes associated with surfing and it scares me. . .

But I don't have any *real* friends, so who else can I talk to???!!!

Besides, the forums you mention exist already:

Alterts: bad lines, etc
Lost and found: obvious
Flows: Flows
Gear talk/Gear swap: gear
Lost and found: duh
Trip planning...

And last but not least, "Boater's Forum" under "Community". As being part of the "Internet generation", please let me know if you need tech support finding these other forums.

GE, I think "socalizing" with other boaters is part of being a boater. If we weren't a socal bunch, we would be on the "Xboxbuzz" site or something like that.

I'd like to register 1/2 my vote with Newby and the other half with Gary.

Gary- any interest in another Mexico trip this year? Looks like Pagel & I, possibly Steve Ward. Nov. 12th through the 26th. We can give the Verde & Santa Maria another go....

Sorry little late on this one. Have not been to the buzz in a while

Paddlebizzle, this is your pal matt. Just a little advice. You should not be posting on subjects like this. How much did you paddle this year? Also I know for a fact you have never got on the M-Wave. I know I have only been there once and all I could do was front surf it but I am not talkin any shit.

You need to stay a bit more low key untill you start paddling hard stuff. Also you are walking fine line of becoming "one of those front rangers" You have not been there that long don't let the smog get to you
