You should look @ it yourself. It's not too far off the main drag (Hwy. 82). I recently moved to Basalt and was psyched to have the Lower Pan as a local run. However, after running it a couple times, I think I'd pass on running it again. The Upper Pan is far better (scenery and rapids). I say leave the L.P. to the anglers.
As far as going to Slaughterhouse instead, I'd pass on that as well. It needs more H2O. IMHO, the Arkansas and the Crystal are the rivers to hit.

I would certainly only drive up to the first pull out, on the outside of a left hand bend. There is an information sign. The farthest up I would drive is up to the slide by the White river forest sign. the funnish stuff is the last mile I thought. If it is over 900 there is the worlds coldest play spot right where the damn lets out. the last time I played there I was in an RPM and got like 8 linked ends.
