Lower Blue Goes UP MORE!
But be careful out there--we might have to increase releases during the day like we did today.
Inflows into Green Mountain Reservoir are at about 1600 cfs. And, we have filled the reservoir. We haven't done this in about six years. This is good news!
Because the reservoir is full, we are just by-passing the inflows to the Lower Blue. In the next hour, we will be bumping up releases about 300 cfs. They are currently around 1300 cfs.
We anticipate the 1600 cfs to last through the Holiday weekend. But, as usual, we're operating based on what the weather brings. If storms come in and it cools off, we might scale releases back a little bit. If the heat continues and the snow continues to melt at this rate, we will bypass the inflows as we are doing now.
If you are boating the Lower Blue, please be aware that we might have release changes during the day. It is a good rule of thumb to check the gage web pages for inflow info to Green Mountain Reservoir before you head up that way. Inflows will give you an idea of what might be happening on the Lower Blue.
Normally, at this point in the message I would say to contact me with any questions or concerns, but I am actually taking a long weekend for the 4th of July holiday. If you do need to speak with someone at Reclamation, dial my regular number and hit "0". Our receptionist will be able to direct you to someone who can assist you. I'll be back on Thursday, July 7th.
Have a safe and happy 4th!
