Lost Boat on Cheoah

Welp, this year's warm-up trip to NC worked out real F-ing wonderful...ran the big one...hit some slab....lost my seat....couldn't roll any of the three attempts....needed new outfitting...now I need a new boat I guess...

My Dagger CFS got pinned under a rock about 400 yards below 'The Big One' on the Cheoah. We attempted to extract it but it was pretty well hopeless untill they turn the water off. If any of you NC boater's end up around the Cheoah and feel like practicing your boat extraction skills or want to see if you can find a likely battered CFS it would worth a lot to me to get it back...broken or not. My contact info is as follows:

cell: 845-325-1218
e-mail: crazykayaker84@yahoo.com

Any info or assistance would be greatly appreciated....I miss the ol' boat already.....I'm back in NY today and will be driving back West again in Mid June so if anyone does recover it please let me know. I also have buddies still in the area if you can rescue it before thursday or friday, they will take it back for me....just make sure you let me know b/c your efforts will be rewarded. Thanks in advance.....

--Zach Williams

PS...The boat is blue w/ Black swirls....just in case.....I can't remember if it has my name or my buddy Bill Herrings name in it as I bought it from him....

Hey Zach,
Have you tried posting this to BoaterTalk yet?

That site seems to get alot more traffic from the SE'tern boating sect-- good luck getting the baby back.

Newby,

Thanks a lot for your input. My buddies actually ended up staying in the area yesterday and managed to go back and find the boat after the water dropped. It had moved a little downstream but they got it back for me and I'll see it again sometime. Surprisingly there was no damage to the boat, my float bags stayed in, and my cigarette case even stayed in so I'll have an old pack of dry smokes waiting for me when I get the lot back. It was an exciting day! At least I didn't get it like one other fella who actually ended up swimming the falls and broke his arm in 4 places... What a season opener!!! :P SYOTR

I *heard* about that guy-- serious compound fracture, complete with airlift out to ATL. ouch!

You gotta figure between a swim over the falls, a $10K helicopter ride, and the loss of a drytop (when the paramedics cut it off), it probably wasn't the best day he's had on the river? Any clue where he went over (right creek line vs/ left boof)?

And your last name is McSwimmy, too?
hmmmm.... we must be related!!
(depending on the weekend)

I'm glad to hear you got the boat back, though I am questioning the veracity of your claim about the recovery crew?? Yeah, like any *real* boaters would've left a stash-case untouched.... LOL

Hope you had a great time on the water this week, though. Any chance you'll be returning for Che-lullah weekend in two weeks?

Well SJ, at least other Steve (Sward) didn't mistake me for Decker or Kuthe..... that's all I have to say!

Sward, I don't think I've even seen this "WarDamnEagle" fella you've referred to? But no, he's not me. My BT ID is super top-secret: which means, of course, that it can be bought for as little as a twelve pack of beer, a few shots of tequila, and a subsequent handful of well-timed questions.

(I really *am* trying to keep my chin up over here today, SJ-- not working out too well.... guys, please excuse the utter lack of humour in my posts today)

SJ- thanks, but the family is not so new anymore, Ruby will be 3 in April and Sauce will be 5 in June. And of course as you know, my accountant says that i am claiming single status this tax return. Also, can't wait to throw some huge wheels on those big rollers on Cat...

Nube, work sux. I was thumbing thru the user gallery on BT and thought I made a match...

Steve.
