cascade was awesome a few days ago. portaged landslide, scouted 2 other times, as we were both 1st timers on the creek. stellar run. box was fun as usual...seems as though entrance rapid has gotten easier?

Yes, the entire run from cascade thru the rockwood box was high quality. But we paddled this past tuesday when the animas at durango was around 2000 cfs. Now that it's above 4000, cascade would be better but some large holes may exist...definitely don't run any horizon lines blind. The box would probably be a different story as well and may require a visual before dropping in. A high water cascade and upper A run would be so much fun that if you had to portage the box, it wouldn't ruin the run. Enjoy!

we did cascade a couple years ago with durango guage around 6,000. The creek was awesome and everything was good to go. my friends ran it when the guage was at 8,000 and said it was pretty hectic. it was also their first time on the run. I think if you know the run you can probably run it very high.

I was there that day. It was still a portage on the left. The holes in the series just below Landslide were some of the biggest of the run. (Obviously excluding Rockwood).

Of course all of the gauges are just barometers... I'm sure at huge flow landslide might clean up, but the rest would be blind and fast, and if you knew it then very very fun. I love that run.
