I had my first kayak swim in 12 years yesterday on the Lochsa. Combination of mild dehydration and not enough breakfast. I had a few pancakes with syrup, but no eggs/bacon/meat/beans/cheese/protein.
Crew was late getting on the river, and my blood sugar was already low getting on the water.
I felt like the Betty White character in the Snickers commercial.
Midway down the river we stopped, and I bummed an almond/cranberry granola bar and a double handful of peanut butter pretzels. The rest of the river was great.
Mom was right. Eat a big breakfast.
