Lake Creek Update

Well with paddle fest comnin into town I thought I would shoot out an update on Lake.

The new gauge (it was there last yr) river right, just above the Caldron at the low head dam - has a visual gauge that is makin it easier to tell how much water is in there – After 1 year I have come up with my opinion of what this gauge means.

At 2’ it is goin to be low, boney, runable but not poppin. All lower rapids are possible – upper some what boney. 3’ is primo for a 1st run. Everythin is good to go, kinda poppin, kinda pushy, super fun – upper fillin in but not super full. 4’ is getting to my personal level for high water, Right around here to above the Caldron will have the ability to give out a pukin style or worse beatin on the right wall. At 5’ + some could run her but I will be drinkin beer and watchin.

The water goes up and down fast on this section and I love this section of water – roadside, one of the best sections of water in the state. It can go up or down fast so this is why I posted my opinion of what that gauge means. So if you are goin up there or if you have anything to add PLEASE add to this the more info the better as more and more people are startin to run this section of river.

Right now I think 700 or so will be right around 5’

This year there seems to be a ton of wood in the upper section that will wash down – more than usual so be on the look out for trees.

The log at the bottom of paralyzer was cut out last fall. Now we just have to wait and see how the logs tumble down this run at high flows. Hopefully it stays somewhat clean for the late season runs.
