(A big thanks to Tiff for engaging this guy) He is a nice guy and said he wouldn't mind people on his property AS LONG AS EVERYBODY RESPECTS HIM AND HIS LAND!!!
He actually wants to learn how to kayak and stated he would actually be excited to watch people run these rapids. This is supposedly his second home, so he may not be there all of the time. But, if you see him or his family please give them the utmost respect and courtesy that they deserve. If I catch wind of any fool disrespecting this guy I will personally get a posse of Lake Creek die hards together to F'ing lynch you!
If you decide to portage Kiss the Wall (which is me every single time) please take the time to walk up to the road and then walk down past his driveway to the bridge below Kiss the Wall. For now, please DO NOT
walk through his driveway like we did with the previous owner. Maybe in time he will tell us it is okay to walk through his driveway, but until then just go around his house using the road.
I'm looking forward to another great year!!!
Stay safe and get er done.
Yep got the same beta.... So new rules at the paralyzer..
#1 DONT WALK THROUGH HIS DRIVEWAY!!!! EVER!!! Get it EVER!!!!!!!!!! I can see why as he would ask this as you have to walk 10 feet from his front door... Now the old portage trail is a NO GO!! CLOSED!!! FINISHED!!! Dont use it and dont use his driveway.. The problem here is that it is much easier to use the driveway protage but look it as CLOSED FOREVER!!! Simple got it................................................ Dont be FKN LAZY hike around!!!
Now if you walk kiss me you will have to walk up the trail to the top of the paralyzer then take the main road down past the driveway and house (200 yds walking on the road) and there will be a new trail to get down to the river FROM THE ROAD.... I will mark it with a small piece of dull tape.. This portage will put you out in traffic on a blind corner so note this... Dont go into the campground as they dont want you putting in or taking out below the bridge................ Basically know where you are at and what you are doin...
#2 I hope it does not happen but if you are the group or in a group of boaters that pisses off this landowner you will be hunted down like a dog and as marco said well maybe gettin off lynched is too easy... This is a nightly afterwork run for a bunch of us up here and if you disrespect this man or his land you will have made a ton of enemies for life!!! Not joking here...................
Also until this guy gets used to the boaters I would say to avoid the 3hr long park and huck missions at 200cfs with the dog, every beer drinkin boater from the rafting company you work for, some guy who just wants to look at it, and the gf....... Get in run it when there is enough water and get out.. Leave the late july/aug park and huck for the caldron..
Also I will spill the big SSSHHHHH secret of the ark the past couple of years and that is that the upper is some of the best class IV - V creekin anywhere I have been and will show just about anyone down it... SO if you are a boarderline BIG 4 paddler and want to run something easier just get up on the upper and wait until you are ready for a real paralyzer run...
Like marco said the new people are super cool and as long as we respect them they will let us run it....
So dont screw it up and if you dont know where to go ask someone to show you the ropes...
