For me it's mostly about letting the tube deform enough to take pressure off the rock. I warn people who are about to step on my boat when doing low water runs that they will sink halfway down. Many want to help me pump it up. No thanks, not until we get down to more water.

I run a Maravia so it's not really about punctures - at least I have never worried about it. It's all about not getting stuck.

Oh how I wish I had read this thread before this last weekend.... Trying to get 6 people in a 14 foot raft down a river bed with about 6 inches of water in it was real b!tch.... wonder if a softer tube would've helped ease the misery.

That was my thinking. Then this happened late season mfs above rams narrows. I'm still perplexed on how this happened. I just don't get it. Soft tubes low water? S#!t Happens.
