I think Kayak magazine spring addition had a story on Calagary area paddling. The Kananaskis (dam control play run), Elbow, and Bow river are all proximate, plus much more in the area. Most of it sounded incredible and covered the gamot in skill levels. This site has alot of info:

squamish area

the squamish area is prime for the next several weeks. I hear Callaghan is in at a great flow right now, IV-V run with a super clean 25-footer.

Ahslu is a bit high yet I think, but it and the Elaho should be in soon. Cheakamus and Cal-cheak runs are good right now. There's the hair creeking, hit up locals for more beta.

Careful with beta there -- BC IV makes "Idaho V" look mellow. Get a feel for the ratings before you drop in.

there are some good sites with limited beta ... here's a couple:

Hey Bryan,

I guess were to busy kayaking to get any beta!
Whistler/Squamish is an area you want to hit, last weekend Callaghan was very low, we didn't run it. Everything is lower this year we had a great snow pack but July was pretty hot. Most river(glacier fed) in Whistler come up again with hot weather. Slickhorn has link to some rivers in the area.
The Ashlu festival is August 24-27, here's the website
If you talk to raft guides(some are kayakers) in Whistler and Squamish they'll point you in the right direction.
You can do a mutliday fly-in trip to the Stein(Whistler Air) or you can hike into the North Stein if you don't want to pay for the flight here's some beta
Here's another website with some beta of the area
Hope this helps,

Anybody know when the stuff around Thunder Bay runs?Those creeks coming off the Canadian Shield/N. Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota and Western Ontario sound like a cool destination for paddling. Is that what you are talkin' bout Count,a lot closer but still far,Canada's a big bastard{major understatement}

Yeah, that was some of the stuff I was thinking of. Canada definately is a big MF; there's a huge difference between western CA and the Ottawa (a.k.a. heaven) forming the eastern border. Most of the paddling I've done out there is between central ON and central QB; I'd like to get on some of that stuff further out west. I'm definately interested in any beta people have to give about the rivers between central ON and eastern BC.
