I have owned at least four pairs of guide tennies, one pair retro tennies and one pair camp fours and plan on buying a watter tennie as soon as I have the $$. I will grant you that five ten skimps on arch support but I have flat feet and shoes with arch support kill me. Sure the sole wears out but that is because they are so friggin sticky. Seriously, try rubbing them together and then pressing. They will litterally stick like gum. Besides the sole of my Teva Cherry Bombs lasted a few weeks and I usually get a full season out of 5.10.
