Ecuador's Jondachi river is in danger and needs your help!
There is a hydro project dam proposed for this river that would mean the end of the classic Upper Jondachi run. If you've paddled in Ecuador, you know what a big deal this is. If you haven't, you've probably heard of the Jondachi river--it's a classic.
But you can help! And there is hope!
The Ecuadorian Rivers Institute is working hard to get the project stopped because of the recreational value of the river. This non-profit organization has been successful in the past at stopping (or at least relocating) similar projects, so we are hopeful for the Jondachi. But the ERI cannot do it without our help and support.
Public comments are due by May 23rd, so there isn't much time left. You can download the opposition comment forms from the link below. Then, fax them into Matt Terry at the Ecuadorian Rivers Institute, and he'll make sure they get to the government in time for review.
