So I finally got around to uploading my run through Joe Hutch in Desolation Canyon last July. I really think the high water this year has mellowed out/altered this rapid. Anyway, this will give you an idea of what Joe Hutch is like now.
Best part of Deso this year for me was being able to take my Dad down it.
Deso is a river for new and starting rafters, so I am not surprised to hear of all the flips on Deso. At least it's great to learn there, the recovery is a lot easier than other places.
Ran it at 30,000 late May this year and don't remember much of a rapid there either. Not remembering it may have had something to do with the two handles of Green Iguana and the case of beer my wife and I drank before getting to Joe Hutch that day ;-).
June at 36K there was certainly something there, however the biggest hit was from an unnamed riffle on the second day.
