I just passed through there. I bought a used 14' PVC (Vanguard) in Feb. I also joined the local rafting club (hcrr.org), and am reviewing guide schools. I ended up with the Vanguard because it was the only good used raft I found, but I was told many good things about Vanguards before hand. Good used rafts are not going to be easy to find. I stumbled across mine by pure accident. I started out looking at a 14' NRS, but never saw a used one. I got mine for less than half of retail, and it is two years old.
I now like everything I see and hear about Vanguards, and for general use in Colo, including fishing a 14' seems the way to go. I canoed and kayaked for +15 years but age is beginning to crimp my style, so I am taking up rafting.
I already see some neat aspects to rafting including a considerably more stable platform and much longer range armaments. I figure I can take out 5 or 6 butt boaters every trip. With two 9.5' oars, it won't even be a fight.
I also started doing a lot more posting on mountainbuzz. It' pretty useful and always entertaining.
