Is SBC really running?

Just looked at the gauges and South Boulder Creek says 342 cfs. Anybody know if this is true?

I would say that it is running from looking at the graph but I would think there would be ice in there for sure. I talked with a water person earlier this fall that told me they will release water from the hydroelectric gross dam whenever there is a peak in need for electricity.

they are talking about south boulder creek. And I don't think they do those winter boulder creek releases anymore.

Do they ever do those night releases anymore, anyone know for sure?It was kind of cool, you'd get up to Boulder the creek was pretty much dry, you'd wait a bit maybe drive upriver until you saw it crankin' then just down river nothing was happening, each pool had to fill before it started spilling into the next, but one pool at a time the creek came to life. The town run is pretty tame and the freezing temps were'nt too conducive to playing.Bombing 4 mile down might be sweet if you could see.It was fun novelty boating and made you realize that you better chill out and wait until warmer days arrive.

Not sure about sbc running. if it is I doubt there is water down to eldo.

The city of Boulder bought Barker res from Excel energy a few years ago, so they no longer do the winter, night releases that used to help offset peak demand in the evening.

I used to get on that all winter long, back in 95 through about 98.

caught it on X-mas eve of '96 (i think) on a full moon, with lots of snow on the rocks. Absolutely beautiful.

She looks like she's running. I went in there earlier this year with similar flows. Moist slot is good deadly IV+, Brains remains a junk show for those inclined, and the Bridge rapid is good clean V-/V fun and the only reason for the epic day trip. The dam is still good to go, but serious boat abuse as there is almost no water going over. Then you have to hike out over a mile of private property. We met the land owner and she was older, kinda crazy, but very nice. Let's keep it that way. I could probably be tricked into going on saturday early.
