Is Grizzly running? (near Shoshone)

Has anyone run it lately? Wood?

you said wood

I'm not sure if the flow is up, but there is definitely a lot of wood. The description on Eddy Flower taken from CCRII should be updated. We cleared it in 1999 for about a mile upstream of the mouth, but it filled back in the following year. You would have to get in and out of your boat a lot as most of the log jams are impassable.

It was running when we looked at it on Sunday. Didn't hike very far up this time but I went all the way to the sieve earlier in the spring to assess the wood situation. Basically, the Upper Half (more burly) had 4-5 logs in it but only 1-2 should be an issue with a significant amount of water. The Lower Half (less burly) had 5-7 logs in it with 2-3 probably being an issue with water. Overall, I would say it would be decently runnable.

Good Flow, but...

I hiked my dog up Grizzly this morning and there is plenty of water. Count is about right on regarding about 6 intances of logs being an issue with decent flow. They are river wide and unfortunatley right in the middle of some of the most interesting parts of the stretch. IMHO I don't think it is worth it short of a novelty run.

I hiked way past the sieve, and there is about a mile and half of fairly wood-free paddling up stream of the seive. The gradient picks up quite a bit too. It would be a stout hike with gear, but may be worth it. Taking out before the sieve would be easy since there is quite a bit of just boogie water before it.
