Is Cross-Mountain Gorge worth the drive?

Most people say this (2000-2600) is a good level to see it for your first time. I know it is only five miles long...can you double dip it?...is the shuttle hard?... Other things in area running? Any beta on Slater Creek's A.C. slater falls, hike and huck? I'm coming from the front range...can you pull up a paco pad at the put-in/takeout??

i think it's worth it. Expect class IV big water type rapids. it's fairly mellow at this level. sounds like 4K is when it really starts to get good.

yes you can double dip and camping around the put in is great. but not at the actual put in. there is a sweet campsite just above the entrance to the canyon and you can scramble down to the river there too.

Melrose, camping is good at the putin. Shuttle is easy and you can definitely do two runs in a day. You do need a second car or motobike though. It's not really possible to hike or bike it, especially if you want two laps. Take the playboat until at least 3000. It's a great early season run.
Call me.

It's one of the better class IV runs in the state. Well worth a weekend trip, even if you only run it once a day. It's pretty easy to get eight hours of play out of one run down.
