Is confluence any good at lower level? any thing else close?

I haven't paddeled a whole lot of places near the front range. With a new boat and cold water I'd like to just do some small stuff. I just don't know any park and play spots besides confluence and golden. Any ideas? My roll is good, I just don't have a lot of time or anyone for a shuttle. Anyone you for a short run on saturday morning?

Nah, Confluence isn't very good now. They actually have the kayak ladder blocked so most of the meager water heads over to the diversion dam where there is a water intake. You can call Confluence Kayaks to see if it has been taken off, but I doubt it.

For doing simple stuff with a boat for a beginner/intermediate to get the feel of a boat, I would consider 80-100 cfs the minimum.

Golden is at 95 cfs. Some of the drops may float your boat fine. There is some ice, but I think it is out of the way.

The best action is probably the Shoshone section of the Colorado at Glenwood, 2.5 hours away.
