I live in Golden too and I'm recovering from an injury so I'll be starting next season with some "mellow" creeking. Contact me next season and I'd be happy to paddle with you.

Mountainbuzz is a good place to hookup so you'll probably already have met a crew by then. Just watch out for people who aren't dressed warmly and don't have a whistle/knife/throw rope. Watch for details like decent creeking shoes and float bags that hold air.

Eleven Mile Canyon is a perfect beginner intro to creeking. Yes, it has 2 class V's on it. Neither of which need or have to be run. Everything in between is easy class III with a possible class IV. This runs gives you the experience of running a small volume creek, shallow rock bed, possible strong hydro's, slot moves, drops, road side for everything, easy scouting, and the danger of wood.
