Subject: Nonconsumptive Needs Assessment Comments
This meeting concerned control and management, by Colorado, of our river basins, in our area of the state. It is our opportunity to tell the
"powers that be" how we use these areas now, our suggestions for future
usage, and comments on what is being done well now.
If you were not able to attend the meeting, you still have a chance to
make your thoughts known. Jacob Bornstein (Program Manager, Intrastate
Water Management and Development) gave the presentation and said that
comments could also be submitted to him, by email, at:
jacob.bornstein@ state.co. us
You MUST include the following to make your comments acceptable:
Type of activity: "BOATING" for whitewater & flatwater rafting & kayaking
- Phone Number
- Location number that comment references
(These were defined on the maps they had, at the meeting. They include:
Location Number Location
>>1 Animas, basically the Durango "town run"
>> 2 Dolores, below the McPhee resevoir
>> 3 Upper Animas, from Silverton
>> 4 Piedre
>> 5 San Juan, at/near Pagosa Springs
>> 6 San Miguel
>> Include use frequency, number of people, quantity of water needed, time of use (i.e. Dolores high use Apr/May thru July 4, etc), any other
comments you have. Please give both comments for improvements AND
comments for praise.
Each comment(s) for a location should be clearly separated from other
location comments, so they know what area you are talking about. You can have multiple comments for each area.
If you have questions, contact Jacob Bornstein at his email or at 303-704-3441 ext 3248 (office) or 303-704-1869 (cell). Their website is www.cwcb.state. co.us.
Hope this is helpful to you. They can't help us improve and maintain our
recreational uses of these areas unless we tell them what's on our mind,
so PLEASE let your voice be known.
