In like a lamb, Day 3, 2009
As Shane said yesterday, "What are the reasons we don't boat? Either no water or too cold. Well, guess what. It's hot and there's water"
Pine Creek/Numbers Redoux --- Awesome day! No bald eagles this time, but the water is up and I was hardly cold in Pine and feeling toasty by the Numbers. If the level in Pine last time was 250, then I'd say it was at least 300 cfs yesterday. Getting where we can park the creek boats and get the river runner or play boats out. What a great day it was. Oh, and rapid 5 was sooo much fun. I think I sliced that sucker in more pieces than I ever have ... probably making a dozen slalom moves just through the meat section. And, yes, there are consequences if a person were to mess up. The holes are deep enough to sink you to your neck and the rocks are a plenty if you're off guard or if one should get flipped. At the take-out it seemed like a September day. Late season water levels, but summer time warmth. So,.... I expect March to end like a lion. For the moment, though, it's boatin' season. Yahoo! Pine and the Numbers are basically ice free and all the niormal lines go. Get ya some!
