Important Lyons Outdoor Games competition information
The water gods have dealt us the hand that we have... and we have a ROYAL FLUSH GOING DOWN!!!!
Plan B's are in effect across the board, and I have to say I am excited to announce this. Lyons is very fortunate to have some amazing features for everything kayaking, at any skill and fortunately for us.. every water level!!!!!
As of now, I am announcing that the Adam Barron Memorial Creek race will be held in the upper stretch that borders the previous years race start. This also means that the same previous race start area will be the finish line for this section. You can literally drive it out as exactly .8 miles upstream from last years race start pullout on the road.
For those more familiar, this new start area is the turn in the river just below "Bed Springs" rapid.
All Freestyle events including Pro, Intermediate, JR and Cadet will be located at the Meadow Park area. This newly found gem at these levels is something to be seen. No BS! It's a wave/hole and from what I am being told there is not a trick in the book that can't be done there. It's got great viewing and a kick ass foam pile!!!
Down River Race!
This will start as always at Apple Valley Bridge, but will culminate early at the Meadow Park as opposed to the usual Black Bear Hole.
This is a really good time and always has a good bunch of laughs to be had. My hope is that everyone would join in for this event. Teams of four will relay race around various obstacles and paddle down to tag out their team partner till all four are complete.
This too will be at Meadow Park and is huge fun.
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body. But rather...To skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming... WOW !!!! What a ride!!!!!!"
