I thought this was an awesome story

I would have never thought you didn't need a good hip snap. This guy is a monster. IMHO.

That is a cool story indeed! Also cool how much trust and care his group has for him, I imagine swimming without legs would be highly difficult, scouting impossible, and he can't ever throw you a rope if you're in the shit.

He has a dedicated group of friends, I think story this speaks highly of the values kayakers share.

I'll bet he carries a trow bag, can help a ton, chased down a boat, and has rescued a swimmer or two. It would only surprise me if he has NOT set saftey for others a time or two. He seems like a solid boater that adds to the collective. But your right, it speaks to the values of most river people!

I've boated with Greg on several occasions, and he's amazing. He runs the big stuff, basically never swims and is a great guy to talk to. Just think of the implications of never scouting anything. Then think that he runs the Little White all the time.

Ran the truss once with a paraplegic hardsheller. Sure he couldn't scout and it took a team effort to portage him around Big Brother.

But on the water the guy was nothing short of bomber. And he would always help out with safety by being the guy in the water ready to help corral a boat or swimmer.

Can't remember what we did at the takeout, probably floated all the way to husum. But he wasn't a liability at all.

Reaching Greg

This is an incredible story. Just so happens my wife is on the process of writing a grant to expand the Lyons Kids Kayak to include a program to get people with physical handicaps into the river. Would love to reach out to Gregg if anyone knows how to get ahold of him.

You don't have to post his contact info here. Just call or text me at 720-987-6752. Thanks,
