How's the vail playpark now?

How's the vail playpark at current flows on gore creek? I read the stuff about the air bladders and that sounded pretty good. I'm going to be in vail this weekend and was wondering if it was worth a surf session.

Thanks!

Hey!
I was there about a 1 1/2 weeks ago and it was ok. The levels are about the same as when I was up there so assuming they have not changed the bladder system then the hole should be ok.

You should go play in the Avon beast! I hear you can get huge air in there

The Vail park and Avon Park are both very good. Avon is really big and takes some control but really gives up the big moves. Vail is more easy to control. They are always changing the bladders to improve upon the hole and make it better.

Apparently they have air bladders that are controled with air pressure to help manipulate the shape of the channel to dial in a good feature. This supposedly allows for fine tuning of the feature over a greater range of flows.

Where is the Avon park?

The hole is good if your in the area. Not worth a whole day but definitely makes a good quick session or Gore ck is a worthy evening float, with Betty Ford hole and Vail. Vail is really sweet if someone is there to adjust the bladders. It seems like they are adjusting it in the morning to a good configuration and leaving it until night. If you happen to catch someone there doing it, they could customize it to you. Teva Games Folks sure made it look sick. Last years top ride was 98 pts, this years was around 170 pts. 2nd feature at Avon is quality, 3rd is chunky. easily avoided on river left, the park is under Bob the Bridge by Burger King.

Ian, you should go for the trifecta and hit Glenwood too while you are in town.

I paddled in the Vail park last night and it was good. Good front surfing. The player's left shoulder gives up blunts/roundhouses. Looping is a bit tricky but can be done. If you are in the area its worth checking out.
