Well, I saw in your link that the peak for '95 had a note that it was the "Maximum Daily Average", so maybe we were seeing 1000 cfs diurnal swings and 2,300 was the biggest average for a full day? I was boating here at the time and I could swear it was well into the 3,000's, although I didn't want any part of it at the time. I drove up the canyon on peak weekend that year to check it out on the way to get my ass kicked in a very large Dowd Chutes.
As for patience, I also noted that the peak day of the peak year on record ('83) didn't occur 'til July 10th...
