How bad are mosquitos on Gates of Lodore?

I'm looking to take my significant other on a commercial Gates of Lodore trip in mid July, but I'm concerned about mosquitos. She doesn't do well with mosquitos. I've seen Rainbow Park be pretty thick with mosquitos.

When and where are the mosquitos bad on this run? And are there any other good remedies except long sleeves, deet, and a smoky fire?

Thanks!

There is an inverse relationship between the number or mosquito bites you notice and the number of beers you consume.

You may swat a few at the put-in and there's a chance that there'll be some in Island Park but other than that there are very few.

It'll depend on when you go as to whether there'll be a few or none.

Have a good trip!

My last trip down Lodore was bug free. It was in early August and we never had any trouble. However, I've heard rumors about bad bugs at the Big Island campsite - a.k.a. Bug Island.

BSOE is right, bugs aren't a problem if there's enough beer.

bugs at ladore

I did a trip in June some 3-4 yrs ago and didn't bring a tent. Bring a tent! The skeeters were horrendous, reminiscent of the everglades... but only in the hour or so on sunset and (much worse) the hour before/of sunrise.

I've done Ladore 6-7 times and the skeeters haven't been bad, but the biting flies, especially around island park are pretty nasty. Deso is where the skeeters can be horrible.
