hip pad repair

One of the foam cockpit hip pads in my boat has a perfect split across it.
I was wondering if anyone has found a glue that bonds/fuses that type of foam?
So far I've tried crazy glue, silicone, and Barge cement, and they didn't last very long.
Q2: Has anyone ever used the chemical that you put on hockey skate toes on this foam?
...It forms a hard plastic coating, and I was thinking that it may add some durabilty.

Duct tape. For hip pads I always tape them if they're glued to keep them together plus the tape will keep the foam from tearing when getting in and out of the boat. Also, imo, you can get the outfitting tighter with tape because you slide in better.

There is a glue made for foam. It is made by 3m and most good kayak stores should sell it or now where to get it. I wouldalso by a new foam hip pad a shape it how you want, this is probably the best idea for that problem, you also should be able to but close cell foam at the boat shop.

Ok if you are anal.... Well maybe not but, Get some fabric that is like a lycra/polyester blend and some 3M spray on glue. Get the heavy dudy kind. Take your seat out spray the glue on and stretch the fabric over it. You want something stretchy enough to not get tons fo goofy folds yet firm enought to add some strength to your outfitting. The finished product will look and feel better. Shopping for the supplies takes time but the glueing process will only take a few minutes. I think the end product will be great that way.

I found a marine epoxy at home depot that works perfect...it also forms a smooth texture that doesnt stick to you when you get in and out.
