I spoke to Ranger Rob up the Poudre this weekend, and he said the City of Fort Collins installed a cfs gauge at Hewlett's Gulch that is going to come online in the next few weeks. Anyone know anything about this?
If true this would be just about the coolest news I've heard all year.
the city already has some info about it on their website. I guess it's supposed to show cfs, temp, turbidity.... it'd be cool if it also showed a foot gauge that matched up with pineview...
Anyone know what the gauges are on the last bridge on Bridges? Last year there was just a small plastic pipe for a gauge, this year there's a much larger metal tube with a wire running to transmitter on shore. I'm assuming this isn't the City's Hewlett gauge since it's no where near Hewlett's. That said, I haven't spotted the gauge up there yet, though I haven't looked too hard either.
Looks like a downward pointing radar mounted on the upstream side in the middle of the Hewlett's Gulch bridge. They measure distance between gauge and water... if so, it needs calibration to convert to CFS.
Dave, go to the flows tab on the rock report site and it's the first gage. Anyone want to run a few evening laps, I can't head that way until 4 or 5.
