Most indicators are that the Iraq and Afghanistan wars will cost this country $1trillion+ before they are through. Yet there has been no war tax, so we've squandered the largest surplus this country ever had and have auctioned off our future to foreign lenders. (China! Currently as abusive towards its citizens as Saddam's Iraq was. How ironic.)
So far, the only sacrifices anyone in this country are making for these wars are the soldiers and their families. What have you personally given up for these wars? Have you put any money into the war effort? If you were/are a soldier who fought over there, and/or have a family member directly involved I apologize in advance.
I suppose this is getting terribly off topic for the Buzz.
PS: As you so obviously hate socialism so much, please make sure you
1. Don't send your kids to public schools.
2. Don't drive on the public roads or highways.
3. Stay out of the National Parks (no Grand Canyon trips for you buddy).
4. Don't collect Social Security when you're of age.
5. Don't use Medicaid to help with your medical bills when you get older.
I don't disagree with what you said and agree the 5 things mentioned are now woven into our society however without drastically cutting spending including cutting benefits by raising retirement age to minimum 75 close to life expectancy; it doesn't matter whether we cut/raise taxes or don't pay for a measly trillion dollar war.
Wars no matter what the cost are sometimes necessary. Until we are off of mideast oil no one can complain of the Irag war unless they don't drive a car or heat their house with something other than coal or wood. And god forbid we try in the process to bring human rights to women and religious minorities in the process.
