I wouldn't take a chance running a one boat trip with someone who just offers up a trip on mountainbuzz...
first, it's illegal as you're obviously offering compensation
second, have you thought about wetsuits, life jackets, helmets, or splash jackets?
there's a reason the state parks regulates outfitters in Colorado, you'll want a guide with the proper training and an outfitter that stands behind the trip
if your budget is limited then perhaps you should choose one of the trips you want to do, a lot of outfitters offer a full-day including both Brown's Canyon and the Numbers as well as a discount for a repeat customer that could be applied if you decide to go a second day
pm me if you want some ideas about reputable companies
Yeah, I changed it from any private boater to who is going to give the group the best time. My mistake I originally was told the entire group wanted to go, then that only 4 of them actually wanted to be on the river.
I would say hook up with a rafting company running browns canyon. There is a company located right there at fishermans bridge. Don't know the name or there reputation as I have not used them. I did how ever run it in a yak at 3 grand = Killer time, just wish I had more sleep the night before. Browns will be a trip that is never forgotten.
PT's KODI, Buffalo Joes, River Runners, The Adventure Company........the list of good rafting companies in the Valley goes on and on. A better question might be who to avoid.
Reason? Last year at FIBArk sitting in an eddy after helping a raft companies swimmer and ferrying their paddle back to them I'm trying to peel back out into the flow and not one raft after countless bumper to bumper trips would let me out of the eddy.
An AAE raft guide, perhaps a hardsheller himself, had his crew take a couple back strokes and allowed us out. FINALLY somebody who had a concept of how to share the river with the rest of us.
They'll get my business next time for that one righteous act.
