Help for a rookie paddler

Just got into boating last year and have spent many summer days in flatwater rolling over and over and over and again, other than that i have only been to the usnwc in charlotte nc, going to the nanthala (NC) this weekend with a group of beginner paddlers and was just asking for a little heads up and advice on what to expect being a rookie and only paddling in a park prior to the river.

Also I have a liquid logic lil joe and a liquid logic ronin 49.
which boat should i plan to use?

thanks in advance

I just started paddling last October and have only run the wilderness channel at the USNWC and the Lower Haw so far. I will say that the whitewater center's crazy eddy's have prepared you well for regular river eddy's in the class II/III range. Though the rapids are not technical at all there, so hopefully you've been practicing tougher moves. I like to bomb them and get back on that conveyor belt, but it isn't great practice.

I don't have any advice on boats because I've only paddled a remix and a villain, so I can't say I'm experienced enough to help with that.

The ronin has the hard edge on the chin compared to the lil Joe. Id go with whatever boat you feel most comfortable paddling, have fun is practically the only thing you need to be worried about... take both boats if you are unsure..remember to smile

Thanks guys. I think I've decided to take the lil Joe but still quite nervous about the trip. Mostly anxious though. Any basic advice on how to run a river? I've never taken a course or anything so I feel unprepared even though I have a good consistent roll
