12' Tributaries are so tiny! It will get eaten alive in there. I would want something with larger tubes for any thing serious.

Read Fletcher Anderson's Rivers of the Southwest about the Aspen architects that attempted this and see if you still want to try...

These architects tried to run Upper Death. Most sane people that discuss rafting Barrel Springs are planning on putting in BELOW Upper and Lower Death. The video of the Creature Crafts at 4500, make that look like a sane level....most of the rocks are covered.

A competent crew of rafters shouldn't have too much trouble at reasonable flow if you are running Barrel Springs rapid. I have seen it done. One raft made it and one raft had swimmers. Even life after death shouldn't be too bad in a raft. If you are going to run upper death make sure you post when you are going to do it so I can come watch. I tried to talk Waterwindpowderrock into running upper death in his play boat once but some safety minded paramedic thought it wasnt a good idea.

I have run barrel springs about 5500 in a 12 foot bucket boat. The boat filled with water each big hit and we submarined right through. Good times. Scary but doable.. Holla if you want more BETA!
