yeah, we were just down there 2 weeks ago. great stuff and scenery on par with the lower sections of the MF. i took my 16ft raft down without issue. Gate Keeper required me to hop out and jam it through at around 950 cfs though. not pretty on my part but it worked.Beyond that, the stares/whispers from the guides at the put in seemed unwarranted for taking such a big boat though a smaller 13ft or so would be ideal, for sure.
make your reservations with the horse packer well in advance...call in the evening after 7pm is the best time to actually talk to someone.

for campsites, they fill up FAST and it's first come first serve. one of our guys went down to the put in around 630 AM day of the launch to sign up for sites and got the last two!!! we stayed at upper duncan and ute bluff. upper duncan was really scenic.
as stated, DO NOT TAKE A car. last mile or so is a real 4wd road, for sure.
it's a great run. i can't believe it took me so long to "discover" it.
here are some pics from our trip...
and digi camera mpeg vid of me running a narrow slot on the first day...pretty fun...get used to shipping your oars on this run, too. (pretty boring video compared to the great shit on this site, for sure
wish i could remember which rapid it was...it was before upper duncan though. improvise or one miller maybe?
have a great trip and don't cheap out and not use the horses. it is money well spent and saves energy for drinking beer and enjoying the trip.
i can email you a scan of a blm river map too. just pm me if you want a copy.
